The Real Estate and Mortgage Lending world is smaller then you think. While there are plenty of Realtors and Lenders out there, the majority of them, quite frankly, are mediocre. However, there are still PLENTY of Superstars and GREAT resources available. It goes back to the 80-20 rule.

Are you familiar with Pareto’s Law of Distribution? Wikipedia defines this concept as:

Pareto originally used this distribution to describe the allocation of wealth among individuals since it seemed to show rather well the way that a larger portion of the wealth of any society is owned by a smaller percentage of the people in that society. This idea is sometimes expressed more simply 80-20 rule” which says that 20% of the population creates 80% of the wealth. 

This concept carries throughout all levels of society, especially Real Estate. 20% of the Realtors and Lenders create 80% of the closings. In the Real Estate business Pareto’s 80-20 rule is probably closer to 90-10. In my opinion, about 10% of the available Realtors, Lenders and Contractors are the one’s you want to do business with. FHA, Conventional, Renovation, Construction or HELOC – some lenders are better than others. Purchase, Listing, Short Sale, REO – some Realtors are better than others.
